In 1962, Oliver "Stompi" Chapman formed the group Sparks, which later became known as Wild Fire. By the dawn of the disco era, Chapman's project was a regular at the trendy clubs Disco Tracks and Upper Level, eventually becoming one of the most popular groups in Trinidad by the late 70s. "Dance Hits" is a compilation of Wild Fire's dance material. The group Hot Chocolate, known for the classic disco hit "You Sexy Thing," had a strong influence on Wild Fire. Hot Chocolate's songwriter Tony Wilson was a native of Trinidad and a friend of Chapman. The opening track on this compilation, "Try Making Love," was written by Tony Wilson in 1977 in Port of Spain. The infectious melody held the top spot for six weeks in Trinidad and eventually rose to the top of the charts in Barbados. Wild Fire toured extensively in the countries of the Caribbean basin but disbanded in 1985, with Oliver Chapman moving to America.
