Altin Gün
Âlem
ATO Records · 2021
Second album of 2021 by Altin Gün. The word Âlem has multiple translations from Turkish, ranging from "world" to "orgy". The jambands.com publication suggests that the band's desire to go beyond the boundaries of their creativity is reflected in this title. Indeed, Altin Gün have dedicated their last two albums to the 80s era, abandoning the 70s funk. Âlem opens with Yali Yali, a traditional song, the funk version of which was recorded by Neşe Karaböcek in 1977. Altin Gün, on the other hand, offer their electro-disco interpretation. In addition, the song Üzüm Üzüme Baka Baka was recorded by the musicians with the Belgian electronic duo Asa Moto. On July 21, Altin Gün released two singles from Âlem. The first one was accompanied by a video directed by Grégoire Verbeke, and the second one was recorded with the London-based band Los Bitchos. The new album, except for the singles, is only available on Bandcamp, and all proceeds from it will go to the environmental organization Earth Today.
