Nu Genea
Bar Mediterraneo
NG Records · 2022
Bar Mediterraneo, like Naples, the hometown of Nu Genea, is always open to travelers from all over the world, for their songs, instruments, and music. And this is the mood that fills the entire new album of the group. The composition Tienaté allows you to feel the uniqueness of the Neapolitan language and hear how disco flirts with local folk music. In the song Gelbi, the flute engages in a dialogue with Tunisian singer Marzouk Mejri. In Marechia, the sounds of the Neapolitan language intertwine with the tender singing of Frenchwoman Celia Kameni. In Straniero, a melodious mandolin accompanies a beat once recorded by the legend of Afrobeat, drummer Tony Allen. The poem by Raffaele Viviani from 1930 echoes the laid-back rhythm of jazz-funk in the composition La Crisi.
