Ak'chamel, The Giver Of Illness
The Totemist
Akuphone · 2020
The Totemist — the first serious studio experience of the group Ak'chamel, performing in homemade masks and costumes and conducting a real ritual during their live performances. Work on the album partially took place in the ghost town of Terlingua in the Chihuahuan Desert in western Texas. Various field recordings were made at a historic cemetery, an ancient burial ground filled with small caves and graves made of sticks and stones, in the final resting places of miners who died from diseases caused by mercury mining.
