Mother Gong
Fairy Tales
Spalax Music · 1979
Jilly Smith is a poet, musician, and actress, co-founder of Gong, Mother Gong, and Planet Gong. In Gong, she performed under the pseudonym Shakti Yoni, voicing cosmic whispers and other lyrics on various albums, including the cult three-disc compilation Radio Gnome Invisible Trilogy. The first album Mother Gong from 1979 consists of three fairy tales written by Jilly Smith, accompanied by music in the spirit of the Canterbury school, composed by Harry Williamson. In a sense, this album is a perfect continuation of Jilly Smith's last track from the Mother album of 1978, the tale of Taliesin.
