Boleros Psicodélicos
ATO Records · 2022
«Boleros Psicodélicos» is an ode to the bolero by Texan producer Adrian Quesada. In the early 2000s, he was fascinated by the 1975 ballad «Esclavo y Amo» by the Peruvian band Los Pasteles Verdes. Between the late 60s and early 70s, the band was on the wave of an unusual cultural movement that flourished throughout Latin America. The psychedelic bolero, as Adrian Quesada calls it, was born from a mixture of romantic ballads from 19th-century eastern Cuba, bossa nova, and baroque pop strings and harpsichords. Studying this style for 20 years, particularly the work of Los Ángeles Negros, Sandro and José José, Adrian hatched a plan to record an album. And so, in 2022, he realised his dream with the help of Mexican singer Girl Ultra, Argentine singer Natalia Clavier from Thievery Corporation, Guatemalan singer Tita and many others.
