The Good Ones
Rwanda... You See Ghosts, I See Sky
Six Degrees Records · 2022
Rwanda... You See Ghosts, I See Sky — the fourth collaboration of the Rwandan group The Good Ones, musical producer Ian Brennan, and Italo-Rwandan documentarian Marilena Delli. Like their previous works, the album was recorded live, without any sound processing, at the farm of Adrian Kazigira, one of the group members. He was born and lived his whole life there, and in 1994 he hid from the events of the genocide of the Rwandan Tutsi people.
Overall, the album consists of contemporary folklore about love, dreams, nature, and the hardships of life. But this time, a large part of the songs are dedicated to the events that the members of The Good Ones faced in 1994. The lyrics vividly describe the history of the genocide in Rwanda in an attempt to convey the feeling of horror and pain from the loss of loved ones.
