Zece Prâjini's Peasant Brass Band
Fanfare paysanne de Zecz Prâjini
Buda Musique · 1996
Ensemble of Romanian Gypsy folk music from the village of Zece Prăjini near the city of Iași. The music of the collective is very colorful with a lot of Balkan influence. The overall performance style is very fast, traditional, acoustic, yet reminiscent of the works of Goran Bregović for Emir Kusturica's films, particularly for Underground. Part of the album was recorded in 1989 at the Philharmonic concert hall in Iași, and part of it during a live performance in the collective's native village in 1993. The album is part of the Musique Du Monde series by the French label Buda Records, but it was also released in Romania by the Muzeul Țăranului Român label under a different name and with a different cover.
