Nasim Khushnavaz — musician in the seventh generation, son of the great performer on rubab Rahim Khushnavaz. Nasim has been living in Iran since fleeing with his family from the rule of the Taliban. He continues the tradition of classical Afghan, and more Iranian-influenced Khorasani and Herati performances on rubab. In 2010, Nasim's father went to his hometown of Herat, where he suddenly died of a heart attack. Nasim hurried to Herat for his father's funeral, but on his way back to Iran, he was in an accident and fell into a coma. Upon waking up, he lost his memory and had to relearn his instrument, which his father had introduced to him in childhood.
